What the Uisce Éireann framework covers
Under Lot 1, Dynamic Safety Solutions will support Uisce Éireann with four connected areas of lifting equipment management across the Northwest region.
Statutory inspection
Thorough examination and clear documentation to support safe, compliant operation.
Maintenance
Planned action to help protect equipment condition, reliability and availability.
Repair
Effective management of defects and required remedial work identified during inspection.
Replacement
Clear support where equipment can no longer be safely or economically maintained.
Why statutory lifting equipment inspections matter
Lifting equipment is used across utilities, construction, manufacturing and other safety-critical environments. Damaged, defective or overdue equipment can expose workers to serious risk, interrupt operations and leave an organisation unable to demonstrate compliance.
Irish workplace safety requirements place duties on employers to ensure that lifting equipment is properly inspected and certified as safe. A GA1 is the prescribed report used in Ireland to record the thorough examination of lifting equipment, its condition, any defects identified and the action required.

Lifting equipment inspections
What is a GA1 inspection?
A GA1 inspection is a thorough examination of lifting equipment carried out by a competent person. The GA1 report records the equipment examined, its condition, any defects identified and whether action is required.
What types of lifting equipment can DSSL inspect?
Our inspection teams cover cranes, hoists, winches, lifting accessories, forklifts, telehandlers, mobile elevating work platforms, excavators and other plant and machinery.
How often should lifting equipment be inspected?
The required frequency depends on the equipment, its use and the applicable regulations. Lifting accessories and equipment used to lift people generally require examination at least every six months, while other lifting equipment is generally examined at least every 12 months. A competent person may specify a different examination scheme based on the equipment and operating conditions.
Does DSSL provide inspection certificates?
Yes. Our inspections include clear compliance reporting and certification, together with details of defects or remedial actions identified during the examination.
