Role Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive SHE Consultant with specialist experience in the quarrying and concrete sectors, as well as a solid understanding of construction regulations. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on health and safety strategies, conducting risk assessments, audits, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement site-specific and effective health & safety management systems.
- Devise written safe operating procedures and safe methods of work.
- Provide advice and support to clients mainly in the quarry and concrete production sector.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Deliver toolbox talks on safety and health-related topics and foster a strong culture of safety.
- Support clients in meeting legal compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Investigate incidents and produce detailed reports with recommendations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and represent clients where required.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in the quarrying and/or concrete production industry with additional exposure to construction environments desirable.
- Understanding of health & safety legislation and relevant regulations.
- NEBOSH/IOSH Diploma or equivalent (or working towards).
- Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CMIOSH) are highly desirable.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to professional development and learning.
- Fully computer literate and comfortable in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience delivering training (e.g. toolbox talks, inductions, SHEQ workshops).
- Environmental qualifications or experience (e.g. ISO 14001, environmental audits).
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in heavy industry.
