CIF Construction Safety Campaign 2026
Back to Basics | 12–23 October 2026
Dynamic Safety Solutions is supporting the campaign by helping organisations refocus on the everyday controls that protect people on site — competent workers, clear planning, suitable equipment, effective supervision and the confidence to stop when something is not right.

01 — The Campaign
Routine work can become automatic. Checks get shortened, assumptions creep in and hazards become easier to miss precisely because the work feels familiar.
The 2026 campaign is a chance to bring attention back to what should already be visible every day: good planning, competent people, suitable equipment, clear supervision and a culture where concerns are acted on.
The important question is: are those controls actually working on site every day?
Five campaign themes
What “Back to Basics” asks organisations to look at.
Open each theme for the practical construction-safety meaning behind it.
Identify and control hazards with the greatest potential for serious harm. On construction sites this means particular attention to activities such as work at height, mobile plant, lifting operations and other high-consequence tasks.
Immediate safety risks matter, but so do longer-term health effects. Good site management considers physical health, occupational exposures, fatigue and worker wellbeing alongside accident prevention.
The people carrying out the task often see the practical risks first. Involving frontline workers in planning, reporting and improvement makes controls more realistic and easier to apply consistently.
Supervisors and managers influence what becomes normal on site. Visible leadership means setting clear expectations, acting on concerns and making safe work the standard even when pressure increases.
Legal compliance is the baseline. Stronger organisations use inspections, near misses, audits and worker feedback to improve the system before an incident exposes a weakness.
02 — Check the Fundamentals
Are you getting the basics right?
Before work begins, some of the most important safety questions are also the simplest. Select the fundamentals you are actively reviewing.
Select the checks that are actively being reviewed on your sites.
This is a short reflection tool only. It is not a compliance assessment, risk assessment, site audit or confirmation that a workplace is safe.

The consequences are highest where the basics matter most.

Critical risk 01
People & Plant
Keep people and mobile plant apart wherever possible, and make every unavoidable interaction deliberate and controlled.
- Separate pedestrian routes from plant operating zones wherever practicable.
- Use competent operators, clear communication and appropriate marshalling arrangements.
- Review traffic management whenever the site layout or work sequence changes.
04 — Act on the Gaps
You identified a gap. Here’s the next move.
05 — Take it back to your site
Make “Back to Basics” visible after 23 October.
The campaign lasts two weeks. The controls it highlights need to work every day. If it has exposed a gap in competency, plant safety, lifting equipment, RAMS or your wider safety system, turn that finding into an action.
