Course Overview
This course is essential for anyone involved in or supervising traffic management operations on public roads. Successful completion enables participants to qualify as Temporary Traffic Operations Supervisors (TTOS).
Course Objectives
Provide candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to set up and dismantle traffic management operations safely on single carriageway public roads with speed limits of up to 100kph.
Who Should Attend?
This course is suited for:
Candidates aged 18 or over with a valid Safe Pass card
Individuals who hold a valid Irish PPS Number (PPSN)
Those with a good command of English (a SOLAS-approved interpreter is required otherwise)
Operatives with at least 9 months of relevant experience in signing, lighting, and guarding within the past 2 years
Note: This course is for operatives who do not currently hold a CSCS ticket in Signing, Lighting & Guarding.
Course Content
Participants will receive comprehensive training covering:
Participants are introduced to traffic management and the different classifications of roadworks.
The course explains the various traffic management devices and how to use them effectively.
Learners gain an understanding of traffic management layouts for safe and efficient operations.
Semi-static roadworks and planned works are covered in detail, highlighting correct procedures.
The training includes practical guidance on traffic management applications in real scenarios.
Participants are shown how to carry out traffic management checks to ensure compliance and safety.
The importance of maintaining accurate site records is emphasised throughout the course.
Safe systems for the installation and removal of traffic management infrastructure are demonstrated.
The programme combines classroom learning with practical site-based training for a complete learning experience.

To book a place on the course, please provide:
A copy of the candidate’s in-date Safe Pass card (must be presented on the course day).
A completed Candidate Pack Form (link), confirming at least 9 months of relevant roadworks experience within the last 2 years. All sections must be fully completed.
A Previous Card Holder Declaration (link) – as per SOLAS requirements, if you have previously completed this course, you cannot retake it. If your CSCS card has expired, you must apply for a new one via https://cardrenewals.solas.ie and pay the renewal fee.

Assessment
Written theory and hands-on practical evaluation. Duration: 3 Days (Full-time)
