NPORS Industrial Telescopic Handler (N010A)

Course information
This telescopic forklift (telehandler) course is aimed at people who require a formal qualification for operating an industrial telescopic handler.
We will conduct a learner analysis to identify the duration of telehandler training required for those with limited or no experience, whereas experienced operators can attend a one day Experienced Worker Assessment (Test Only).
NPORS Industrial Telescopic Handler (N010A) course content
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular harness / fall arrest to be used
- Be able to locate and identify major components of the harness / fall arrest and explain their functions
- Conduct all safety checks in accordance with the manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Select suitable type of harness / fall arrest relative to the work being undertaken
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for using harness / fall arrest and demonstrate correct use
- Correctly fit and remove the safety harness / fall arrest
- Carry out end of work inspections
- Environmental considerations
- Storage of harness / fall arrest
Entry requirements
Please note, that in all cases, operators are required to supply proof to support their application. They have to have passed the CITB health, safety & environmental touch screen test within two years prior to their application.
Good understanding of spoken and written English.

Certification
Existing NPORS Card Holder – No (S)NVQ Held
For operators who do not currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ, a Trained Operator card will be issued which is valid for two years from the date of application. During this two year period operators will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant stated on their Trained Operator card.
Existing NPORS Card Holder – (S)NVQ Held
Operators who currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant stated on their NPORS card will be issued with a Competent Operator card valid for 5 years from the date of application. Operators in receipt of the Competent Operator card will also be issued with a CPD record/operator logbook. This will be an ongoing record of that operators’ continuous professional development and of their operating hours in the workplace.
